Dashboard Usage Analytics: See How Much Your Team Uses Dashboards
Dashboard usage analytics shows account admins how much the account uses its dashboards, and who uses them. It counts five things:
Dashboard views: someone opening a dashboard.
Widget loads: a widget loading its data, the first time the dashboard opens or on a refresh.
API widget loads: a saved widget's data read through the Qvasa API, for example by Claude through the Qvasa MCP.
Manual refreshes: someone pressing the dashboard's Refresh button.
Auto refreshes: a dashboard refreshing itself with Auto Refresh or presentation mode on.
Counts are for the whole account and for each person. Use them to see whether a rollout is landing, who relies on dashboards every day, and how much of your traffic comes from wallboards and automations.
Before you start
Only account admins can switch the feature on and see the Usage page.
It's switched on per account. If you don't find the setting below, contact us and we'll make it available on your account.
Counting starts when you switch it on. Nothing is counted while it's off, so the charts fill in from that moment.
Switch it on
Go to Settings and open Top Level Account Settings.
Search for Dashboard usage analytics.
Click Disabled — click to enable on its card and confirm. The card then reads Currently enabled.
To stop counting, click Disable on the same card and confirm. The Usage page is hidden while the feature is off. What was already counted is kept for the usual time (see How long counts are kept below) and shows again if you switch it back on.
Open the Usage page
Go to Settings > Dashboard Administration and click the Usage tab next to Dashboards.
The page opens with one card per count, each showing the total for the last 7 days and, under it, the last 31 days. The note above the cards says when the counts were last updated.
The three charts
Below the cards, three charts show the same five counts over time, in your account's time zone:
Last 7 days, by hour: the shape of a working day, for example when your team leads check in, or a shift that runs into the evening.
Last 31 days, by day: weekdays against weekends, and the effect of a launch or a training session.
Last 24 months, by month: how usage has grown since you switched the feature on.
Widget loads usually run far above the other lines, because every view and every refresh loads each widget on the dashboard. Click a name in a chart's legend to hide that line and see the others at their own scale.
By person
The By person table lists everyone who used dashboards in a period, with each count and a total, busiest first. Click any column header to sort by it.
To change the period, pick it in the drop-down at the top right of the table and click Show. You can choose Last 7 days or any month from the last 24.
A sign-in used only for a wallboard shows up as its own person, mostly auto refreshes. A person who has been removed from the account appears as A removed user.
What's counted, and what isn't
Automations & external links is one row in the By person table. It covers image exports, external links, embedded dashboards, and workflows checking a widget, which run round the clock.
Counts are per account and per person, never per dashboard. To see when a particular dashboard was last opened, use the Last viewed column on the Dashboards tab of Dashboard Administration.
Only a widget's own data load counts as a widget load. Inspecting a widget, exporting it, opening a drill-in, and the columns a table loads as you scroll don't count.
An API widget load counts once per request, however long the result takes to arrive.
Qvasa support never counts. When our team looks at your account to help you, none of it shows here.
How long counts are kept
By hour, including each person's hours: 7 days.
By day: 31 days.
By month, for the account and for each person: 24 months.
Counts reach the page once an hour, so the hour in progress appears after it ends.
Troubleshooting
There's no Usage tab. The feature is off for your account, or you aren't an account admin. Check the setting under Top Level Account Settings. If the setting isn't there, contact us.
The charts are empty after switching it on. Counts arrive once an hour. Give it an hour after the first dashboard views.
Today's numbers look low. The hour in progress isn't counted yet. It appears after the hour ends.
A month is missing from the By person drop-down. Only the last 24 months are kept.
